Since Lingt language seems to have gone by the waist-side some of you are looking for a substitute. I have not found anything comparable to Lingt and it is a real shame that they no longer offer support for their product, I thought it was brilliant. So, in light of that I am recommending that you use Audacity as a substitute if you are needing to record your students pronunciations. Audacity is installed on all the student laptops so that should not be an issue. However, if you want students to save their files and send them to you in a more universal format such as MP3 rather than an Audacity file, audacity needs to be set up to access a file named LAME so that it can export the files as an MP3. Although Audacity has a nice help page, it didn't clarify for me just where I needed to put the file.In the DMG window, or using the menu item for the mounted DMG in the Finder sidebar, double-click 'Lame Library v3.99.5 for Audacity.pkg' to launch the standard Mac installer. Double-click the.dmg to extract 'Lame Library v3.98.2 for Audacity on OSX.pkg' to Finder, or use Stuffit to extract 'LameLib' from the.sit (either of these may happen automatically). Good morning,
I was advised to post this question here. I would like to begin reading for Librivox and have downloaded Audacity 2.0.2. The Audacity is working fine, but when I follow the posted links for downloading LAME I get error messages and it will not download. I am not very tech savvy, I am afraid, and alot of the terminology on AUdacity 1-2-3 seems like Greek to me, but if you could help me figure out what might be going on, I would appreciate it. I have a PC and a Mac and have tried downloading LAME on both without success.

Thank you!
